The spring classic is getting closer every day. While there are still a little over two months left until the start, preparations are already in full swing. Since the end of last year, the organizing team has been preparing various aspects for the 19th edition of the main race and the special 10th edition of the children’s race. This year, several new features and services are being introduced, which the area coordinators have developed also based on last year’s feedback survey. The main improvements include expanded services, increased rewards, new race categories, and enhanced safety measures.
The race date May 18, 2025, has already been noted by many of you. For the sixth consecutive year, the race is part of the UCI calendar, as well as calendars from the Slovak Cycling Federation, the Trnava Cycling League, maratony.eu, MTBIKER.sk, trenujeme.sk, and other international sports websites.
"We are pleased to see our race listed in so many places and to witness its growing popularity abroad, as evidenced by a sold-out start list for the third year in a row. For this reason, we’ll again set a participant limit to maintain a high standard of quality. I’m also very happy that more companies and institutions are eager to collaborate and support the race. Thanks to them, we can continue developing both the main and children’s races," said Race Director Lukáš Riha.
"The children’s race, Sereďmaratónik, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and the accompanying program is once again scheduled between the start and the finish of the main race."
Race route and participant services
Even though the organizers hope to keep the same route for at least two years in a row, it’s not always possible.
"We are currently considering two versions of the route based on last year's alternatives. While one version is almost approved, we are now verifying recent information about a new road construction project. If it begins on schedule, we will need to use our backup route," shared Šimon Gabalec, the new traffic coordinator. The race route is expected to be about 120 km, and a climb to Havran might once again be included.
After last year’s debut of a new service, currently unique to our event in Slovakia, participants will once again have the option to benefit from Bonus Plus packages. Despite the added value and more extensive contents, the prices remain the same as last year.
These Bonus Plus packages include exclusive benefits and perks. The number of packages is limited by both time and quantity. You simply need to select your preferred package during registration.
Participants can also look forward to enhanced and additional services.
"We’ve increased the cash prizes for the winners again, added new race categories, increased the number of aid stations (refreshment points) along the route, expanded photo services, prepared a richer raffle, improved the sanitary facilities in the square, and negotiated discounted accommodation in selected hotels. More new features and improvements will be introduced gradually," said Tomáš Poláček, the services coordinator.

Bonus at the end
For those who read all the way to the end – here’s the news: registration is now open!
"The first registration wave, offering the best prices, is active until the end of March. Cyclists can save up to 25%. Despite rising service and supplier costs, as well as government regulations, we had to increase the registration fee slightly to maintain the event’s quality and service level. On the other hand, we’re preparing several new features, additional services for participants, higher prize money, and new race categories. In the end, this means more value for less for our cyclists," explained Barbora Javorová, the registration coordinator.
